Gearbox & DSG Repairs
A DSG that hesitates from a standstill, a gearbox that has started clunking into second, or a service book that shows the transmission oil hasn't been touched since the car left the factory.
Dual-clutch and automatic gearboxes on German cars are precision units that get treated as sealed-for-life far past the point that is sensible. We service, diagnose and rebuild DSG, PDK and conventional automatic and manual gearboxes, and we will tell you honestly when a fluid and filter change is overdue rather than waiting for it to fail expensively.
What The Job Involves
Fluid and filter service on schedule
"Sealed for life" on a DSG or PDK usually means for the length of the warranty, not the length of the car's life. A fluid and filter change on time is a fraction of the cost of a mechatronic failure.
Mechatronic and clutch pack diagnosis
Hesitation, shudder or hard shifts get diagnosed with live adaptation data, so you know whether it is a fluid, an adaptation reset, a clutch pack, or the mechatronic unit itself.
Full rebuilds when a unit is worth saving
Where a gearbox is a genuine rebuild candidate rather than a write-off, we will strip, inspect and rebuild it rather than defaulting to a full unit swap.
Why Have GCS Do It
- Direct experience with PDK, DSG, ZF and Tiptronic units across the marques we specialise in.
- Fluid and filter servicing priced to make it worth doing before there is a fault, not after.
- A proper explanation of what a hesitation or shudder actually means, not a part swapped and hoped for.
Questions We Get Asked
How often should DSG or PDK fluid be changed?
Most manufacturers now recommend a change every 40,000 to 60,000 miles or four years, regardless of what "sealed for life" implied when the car was new. We will check the specific interval for your model.
My DSG is hesitating from a standstill. Is that serious?
Not always. It is often a clutch adaptation issue that a fluid change and reset resolves. We diagnose before quoting for anything more.
Tell us what the car is doing and we will tell you straight.
No hard sell, no assembly swapped on a guess. Call the workshop directly or send the details online and we'll get back to you the same working day.
