Advanced Diagnostics & Fault Finding

A warning light has come on, or something is doing that thing again where it runs fine for you but never for the mechanic. Somebody has already plugged a code reader in, cleared it, and sent you on your way. It came back.

We have been using TecRMI manufacturer technical data since 2008, which gets us the same wiring diagrams, torque figures and fault trees a franchise dealer works from. A cleared code is not a fix. We trace the fault to the actual component, tell you what it is, and give you a straight answer on whether it is worth doing.

What The Job Involves

Live data, not just a fault code

A code tells you a sensor reported something outside range. It rarely tells you why. We read live data streams while the car is running or under load, so a marginal signal, a wiring fault and a genuinely failed component do not get treated as the same thing.

Intermittent and electrical faults

The faults that only happen on a cold start, or only over a bump, or only after forty minutes on the motorway, are the ones that get most garages guessing at parts. We track wiring, connectors and earths as carefully as we track the electronics.

A real answer before any work starts

You get told what is actually wrong, what it will cost to fix properly, and whether there is a cheaper interim option, before anything is booked in. No £4,000 harness replaced on a guess.

Why Have GCS Do It

  • Manufacturer-level TecRMI technical data since 2008, the same information a franchise workshop uses.
  • A workshop that has been solving problems on Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche and VW electronics for four decades, not a generalist plugging in a generic reader.
  • Reviews consistently mention the same thing: we tend to find what other garages could not.

Questions We Get Asked

My garage already cleared the fault code and it came back. What now?

A cleared code often just resets a counter, it does not fix the underlying cause. Bring it in and we will trace it properly, using live data rather than a single scan, and tell you what is actually failing.

Do you charge for diagnostics?

Yes, diagnostic time is charged at our standard rate of £95 + VAT an hour, because it is skilled work with proper equipment behind it. If the fault turns out to be something you then have us fix, we will always talk you through the cost before booking the repair.

Tell us what the car is doing and we will tell you straight.

No hard sell, no assembly swapped on a guess. Call the workshop directly or send the details online and we'll get back to you the same working day.
