Welding & Fabrication
A rusted chassis rail on a car worth saving, an exhaust bracket that's rotted through, or a custom part that simply does not exist to buy.
Fabrication has been part of this workshop since long before it was a specialist niche again. We weld stainless and aluminium, repair structural corrosion on cars worth the effort, and build one-off parts when the manufacturer stopped making them decades ago.
What The Job Involves
Structural and cosmetic repair
From patching a corroded sill on a classic to building a replacement bracket that no longer exists on any parts shelf, work is assessed on whether the car is worth the effort, honestly.
Custom parts and one-offs
Where an original part is unobtainable, we fabricate a replacement from stainless or aluminium to the original dimensions, including the custom rack-and-pinion steering conversions the workshop has been known for on classic VW Bay Window vans.
Motorsport and restoration fabrication
Roll cage mounting points, subframe reinforcement and jig work for cars being prepared for track use or full restoration.
Why Have GCS Do It
- Stainless and aluminium welding to a standard suitable for structural and motorsport work.
- Custom fabrication experience, including one-off steering conversions built for classic VW vans.
- The same fabrication skill behind the workshop's Porsche restoration and race preparation history.

Can you repair rust on an older or classic car?
Yes, structural corrosion repair and panel work on classics is something we take on regularly, particularly alongside a wider restoration.
Do you build custom parts that are no longer available?
Yes. If an original part cannot be sourced, we can often fabricate a replacement to the original dimensions in stainless or aluminium.
